Happy Monday! I am here today to talk about Shu Uemura’s new artist collection with Kathleen Kye- KYE Collection. She is one of Korea’s hottest high-end street fashion creatives. Kye states, “for this collaboration I want to showcase the k-vibe. I want to express the energy of Seoul.” I think she did just that with the innovative products and packaging design for this collection.
I like how she included so many things from the Korean culture in the packaging. All of which have a special meaning behind it. With that, it is really cool that they are blending the two cultures together in this collection.
When you think of Shu Uemura, the first thing that comes to mind is eyelash curlers and cleansing oils. Shu Uemura cleansing oils have been around forever and are a cult favorite. So it was no surprise that they wanted to incorporate it into the KYE collection.
Porefinist anti-shine fresh cleansing oil- $31.00
The Porefinist anti-shine fresh cleansing oil is newly formulated to target the source of oil concerns. It’s a water like substance that not only removes makeup, but washes away sebum and blackheads that get stuck in pores. This allows for smaller pores and smoother skin.
The packaging is designed by Kathleen Kye herself especially for this collaboration. It showcases the young generation in Seoul, Korea- with their high-end street style as inspiration.
**Ideal for normal to oily skin types and acne-prone skin**
I have dry to normal skin, and have had no problems using the cleansing oil. I noticed a significant difference in blackheads in my nose area. If you are more dry and do not want to try this particular cleansing oil; you can also try the ultime8 sublime beauty cleansing oil.
The next must try from the collection are the Sheer color balms. They com in three different colors: Glow in pink, Melt in Orange, and hugged in peach. At first glance, glow in pink and melt in orange look a bit intimidating, because of how bright they are in the tube.
If you have ever tried Dior’s lip glow then you know how these lip balms work. When the color is added to your lips, the balm reacts with your PH levels creating a unique wearable color made especially for you.
They are very moisturizing and smooth- maybe a little too smooth, because as soon as it hits your lips, it starts to melt. It’s not too much of a problem, but remember to store them in a cool place.
Try not to go all crazy with application or you can end up looking like you drank some kool-aid, lol!
Here are some general swatches of the balms (right to left): Melt in Orange, Hugged in Peach, and Glow in Pink.
The Kye collection also includes cushion blushes, eye pencils, brow palettes, and an eyebrow gel. Grab them while you can, because this collection is selling out fast. You can find it on Shuuemura.com.
Not much of a makeup lover, but want something from the collection? Shu Uemura and KYE also collaborated on some amazing hair products found here.
I hope you enjoyed my review on this collection. What is your favorite Shu Uemura product?
