Hi loves! Happy Tuesday! We are back with a fun little travel blurb of our trip to Disneyland for the 60th Diamond Celebration! We are a Disney family and go often, but this trip was by far our least favorite. Don’t get me wrong we did make some great memories, but during the time we went half the rides were closed for refurbishment or had technical difficulties right when it came to our turn in line- annoying! Such is life in the amusement park game, right?
I can say the views from the airplane were amazing! Oregon, Utah, and California! We took Delta airlines, unfortunately, their flights are not straight from Oregon to California, but going to Salt Lake city was a nice change of scenery.
After a long 6 hour flight and 30 minutes of being lost in the John Wayne airport- rental car areas are not easy to locate! We have arrived! First thing on the agenda- pool side! If you do not live in Oregon or have never been- our weather is not that great at the moment. So arriving to LA where their highs are 81-85 degrees…paradise! My daughters and niece really enjoyed their pool play!
We ended up staying at the Ramada Plaza Anaheim. We also purchased our park tickets from the hotel. They had an amazing deal going on. Three days for $147 to the $99 single day tickets, this was a steal! They also provided us with a breakfast buffet in the AM- pretty good, but the staff were very open about their work environment. We were sad to hear that if we left a tip on the credit card, the workers never saw those tips. It was stated that the owners of the restaurant would pocket the tips! Horrible…which is why we never ate there again.
Now, the good stuff!
First order of agenda- pins trading lanyards, mickey/Minnie ears, and pictures! This is the first year that my kids took interest in the pin collecting and pressed penny collecting! It was fun hunting down the pin trading stations and pressed penny machines! Definite must do!
My dad was so excited to see the Superhero HQ, formerly known as the Innoventions. There is also a character meet and greet here- this time it was Kylo Ren and chewbacca from Star Wars. My daughters and niece didn’t really care for Kylo Ren, but Chewbacca was all the rage! Chewbacca doesn’t know how to write, so no autographs on this meet and greet!
Next a fun ride on the Monorail! The monorail takes you on a mini tour of the parks, but it is also a good excuse to relax your legs for a bit- which was totally our reason for this ride!
It’s a small world at night!
View from Donald Ducks house!
Sleeping Beauty’s Catle
These are just a few of the shots I was able to get while running to the next ride.
No Fantasmic, but they did have a pretty cool electrical parade!
Day 2- California Adventure
My daughter Jasmyn wanting to pose with the stars of Disney’s Zootopia! This was a mini viewing of movie. It is where they usually hold the It’s a Bug life show (up for reburb). It was really chilly in the AM, so I would recommend a light jacket/sweatshirt.
Paradise Pier was absolutely gorgeous!
Character meet and greet opportunity! We originally saw Woody, but he was switching out with Buzz. Girls were happy either way!
Waiting in line to ride some of the rides in Paradise Pier!
This was the entire reason we went to California Adventure! The Little Mermaid Ride! 5 min waits and it’s air conditioned!
Wilderness scavenger hunt, rock climbing, and spirit animals! Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is definitely a must do! Warning to parents- there are stairs for us, LOL. I, on the other hand, had to learn the hard way. Very good work out, though!
Lots of meet and greet opportunities and photo opportunities! In Hollywood Land, you can go into the Disney Animation building for an opportunity to meet Ana, Elsa, and Olaf. We also ran into Jake from Jake and neverland pirates, and of course Minnie!
We got to watch a really awesome version of Frozen! Very comedic! The kids absolutely loved it. You can locate the show in the building that use to house the Muppets 3D.
More rides in It’s a Bugs land!
We waited all day for the Cars land ride- due to our fast passes. Right when we were ready to get in line, the ride closed down due to technical difficulties! Ughhh, maybe next time.
Day 3- Disneyland
I had a few hours before I had to get to the airport, so we decided to head back to the park. My kids were sad, because they didn’t have the opportunity to do a lot meet and greets. We decided to do breakfast with the characters at Plaza Inn.
$ ($14.99 and under per adult) – $$$ ($30 to $59.99 per adult)
Memories=Priceless!
Meet and greet on Mark Twain’s Riverboat- characters from Princess and the Frog!
Sadly! I had to get ready to leave to the airport. My kids got to stay another day to enjoy Disney a bit more with my parents.
I hope you enjoyed this little insight into my life! My family is everything to me. I am very fortunate to be able to have opportunities to travel like this!
